Wyatt Flores has released "Welcome To The Plains," the title track from his debut album, on October 17, 2024. The song, produced by Beau Bedford, features songwriting collaborations between Flores and Ketch Secor.
"Welcome To The Plains" serves as an ode to Flores's home state of Oklahoma, delving into its complex history. The track explores themes such as the oil industry, forced relocation of Indigenous peoples, and poverty, while also celebrating the state's natural beauty and cultural resilience. It aims to bring attention to the Red Dirt sound and the culture that defines it.
Early critical reception has been positive, with American Songwriter describing the track as a "near-perfect way to open the album." The publication notes that it sets the tone for the rest of the collection, praising its detailed and nuanced portrayal of Oklahoma.
To promote the album, Flores will embark on the "Welcome To The Plains Tour." The tour includes performances at notable venues such as Nashville's Ryman Auditorium, Brooklyn's Brooklyn Paramount, Tulsa's Cain's Ballroom, Boston's MGM Music Hall at Fenway, Atlanta's The Eastern, Chicago's Vic Theatre, Pittsburgh's Stage AE, Washington D.C.'s 9:30 Club, and Fort Worth's Billy Bob's Texas.
Flores, a rising country artist from Oklahoma, has previously released three EPs and numerous singles. He recently signed to Island Records through OEG Records, a division of Universal Music Group. Known for his emotional and sincere storytelling that blends traditional country and folk sounds, Flores has gained recognition from various music platforms.
