SmithField Releases "Never Gonna Get Married" as Part of New EP "Love You to the Moon"
Country duo SmithField has released their latest EP, "Love You to the Moon," on February 14, 2025, featuring the new track "Never Gonna Get Married". The duo, consisting of longtime friends Jennifer Fielder and Trey Smith, has been making waves in the country music scene since their formation in 2011.
"Never Gonna Get Married" is a heartfelt song that draws from Jennifer Fielder's personal experience. The track humorously reflects on her past belief that she would never settle down, only to find herself swept up in an unexpected romance. This personal touch is characteristic of SmithField's approach to songwriting, where both members contribute equally to crafting their harmony-filled songs.
The EP "Love You to the Moon" is a collection of four tracks, including "Never Gonna Get Married" and wedding versions of their fan-favorite songs "If It Ain't You" and "We'll Figure It Out". These reimagined versions have gained significant traction on social media platforms, with "We'll Figure It Out" accumulating over 100 million views and 20 million streams across TikTok and Instagram.
SmithField's musical journey began in Waxahachie, Texas, where Fielder and Smith grew up. Their families had been friends for generations, creating a strong foundation for their musical partnership. Fielder started her musical career at the age of nine, performing traditional country songs at small-town Opry events across Texas. Smith, on the other hand, was influenced by rock music and began writing songs as a teenager.
This blend of musical backgrounds contributes to SmithField's unique sound, which combines elements of country, pop, and rock. Since moving to Nashville in 2012, the duo has achieved significant success, including multiple appearances at the Grand Ole Opry and opening for notable acts such as Brothers Osborne, Scotty McCreery, and Old Dominion.
