Ryan Griffin Releases New Country Break-Up Anthem "Broke"
Ryan Griffin, a rising star in the country music scene, has once again demonstrated his songwriting prowess and emotive vocal delivery with his latest single "Broke," released on February 7, 2025, through Red Street Records. This whiskey-soaked anthem masterfully captures the essence of love lost and the financial toll of moving forward, inviting listeners to raise their glasses and join in the cathartic chorus.
"Broke" showcases a different side of Griffin compared to his previous release, "Old Times Sake," which featured a 70s groove and retro flair. The new track offers a roots-y country grit, delivered with a bold punch that opens with compelling lyrics. Griffin shares, "Broke is my new whiskey-soaked anthem about love lost and the cost of moving on. With lyrics like 'Run my tab up high, I'll be sipping till my heart ain't the only thing broke,' it captures the sting of a breakup with a melody that'll have you raising a glass and singing along".
Griffin, who hails from Ocala, Florida, has been making waves in Nashville since he moved there at the age of 18 to pursue his musical dreams. His journey in the music industry has been marked by significant achievements, including co-writing Kelsea Ballerini's #1 hit song "Dibs" and opening for major acts like Lady A and Old Dominion.
The song was co-written by Griffin alongside Johnny Clawson, Kyle Sturrok, and Red Street Publishing's Ava Suppelsa, showcasing the collaborative nature of Nashville's songwriting community. Accompanying the single is an official video directed by BLNK SPCE Media, which adds a visual dimension to the song's emotional narrative.
Griffin's musical journey has been characterized by a blend of country, pop, and R&B influences. His unique sound has been shaped by diverse inspirations, ranging from country legends like George Strait and Alan Jackson to R&B artist Brian McKnight. This eclectic mix of influences has contributed to Griffin's distinctive style in the country music landscape.
Prior to "Broke," Griffin released "Just Like You Said" on October 4, 2024, marking his first track since his 2023 EP "Phases". The EP "Phases" explored various aspects of love, from finding "the one" to heartbreak and everything in between. Griffin's ability to capture these universal themes in his music has resonated with fans and critics alike.
