Russell Dickerson Releases Dance-Ready Country Anthem "Happen To Me"
Russell Dickerson has unveiled his latest single, "Happen To Me," released through Triple Tigers Records on February 21, 20253. The track delivers an infectious country-pop anthem that seamlessly blends modern production with dance-ready energy. Co-written by Dickerson alongside Chase McGill, Jessie Jo Dillon, and Chris LaCorte, the song captures the excitement and carefree vibe of a spontaneous night out.
"Happen To Me" showcases Dickerson's ability to craft catchy melodies and relatable lyrics. The song's chorus cleverly incorporates a nod to Cyndi Lauper's iconic 1983 hit "Girls Just Want to Have Fun," adding a nostalgic touch to the contemporary sound. Dickerson explained the inspiration behind the song, stating, "When we first started writing, I thought, 'What's a song that makes every girl want to get up and dance when it plays?' So we kicked off the chorus with 'Girls just want to have fun,' and kept building from there".
This new release follows Dickerson's 2024 single "Bones," which is currently in the Top 40 on country radio. The singer-songwriter very recently released a stripped-down version of the track titled "Bones (The Wedding Version)," along with his EP "Bones: The EP" in August 2024.
Dickerson's musical journey began in his hometown of Union City, Tennessee. His upbringing and subsequent move to Nashville at the age of 10 significantly influenced his musical style. The artists sound is a unique blend of country, pop, R&B, and rock influences, reflecting the diverse musical landscape he was exposed to growing up.
After graduating from Belmont University with a degree in music, Dickerson began his professional career in the music industry9. He released his debut EP "Die to Live Again" in 2011 and signed with Creative Artists Agency that same year. Dickerson's breakthrough came with the release of his single "Yours" in 2017, which became a platinum-certified hit and launched his career to new heights.
Throughout his career, Dickerson has consistently pushed the boundaries of country music, incorporating elements from various genres into his sound. His self-titled third studio album, released in 2022, further exemplifies this approach, featuring a mix of country, pop, R&B, and rock influences.
As Dickerson continues to evolve as an artist, "Happen To Me" stands as a testament to his ability to create music that resonates with a wide audience while staying true to his country roots.
