Runaway June Releases Romantic New Single "To Be Yours"
Runaway June, the acclaimed country music trio, has once again demonstrated their musical prowess with the release of their latest single, "To Be Yours," on February 7, 2025, through Quartz Hill Records.
"To Be Yours" is a melodic love song that beautifully showcases the trio's signature harmonies, a hallmark of their sound since their inception. The track was co-written by all three band members along with Aaron Eshuis, who was recognized as one of MusicRow's "Top 100 Songwriters of 2024," and produced by the six-time GRAMMY-winning producer Ron Fair. This collaboration has resulted in a song that not only highlights the group's vocal talents but also demonstrates their growth as songwriters.
The inspiration for "To Be Yours" came from a personal place, as lead singer Stevie Woodward explains: "At the time that we wrote 'To Be Yours,' I was talking to my boyfriend about, do we want kids one day or do we not? And I was thinking, 'If we weren't lucky enough to have a family, I would be happy just to be yours.'" This sentiment resonates throughout the song, with lyrics that speak to the depth of love and commitment.
Runaway June's musical journey has been marked by several milestones and changes. The group was originally formed by Naomi Cooke and Jennifer Wayne, with Hannah Mulholland joining soon after. They gained recognition with their debut single "Lipstick" in 2016 and continued to build momentum with subsequent releases. In 2020, Natalie Stovall replaced Hannah Mulholland, bringing her fiddle skills and vocal talents to the group. The most recent change came in 2022 when Stevie Woodward joined as the new lead vocalist, replacing Naomi Cooke.
In addition to "To Be Yours," Runaway June has been busy with other recent releases. In December 2024, they dropped the empowering breakup anthem "He Ain't My Problem," showcasing their ability to deliver both heartfelt ballads and high-energy tracks. The group has also hinted at more new music on the horizon, with plans for both touring and recording in the coming year.
Runaway June's impact on the country music scene has been significant. They've been hailed by Billboard as the "Next Hot Trend in Country Music" and have drawn comparisons to The Chicks for a new generation. Their accolades include nominations for Academy of Country Music Awards and CMT Music Awards, and they've shared stages with country music giants like Carrie Underwood and Luke Bryan.
