Ringo Starr Releases New Single "Thankful" Featuring Alison Krauss
Ringo Starr releases "Thankful," a new track from his upcoming album "Look Up," on January 10, 2025. The song, co-written by Starr and Bruce Sugar, features country music star Alison Krauss, aligning with the album's country music theme.
"Thankful" is part of Starr's exploration into country music, a genre he has long admired. The former Beatles drummer explained that the album's concept emerged after T Bone Burnett wrote a country song for him that was "so beautiful" it inspired a full country album.
The track's production is a collaborative effort, with T Bone Burnett serving as the main producer for "Look Up," while Daniel Tashian and Bruce Sugar contribute as co-producers. This team effort brings together various talents to shape the sound of "Thankful" and the entire album.
To promote "Look Up" and showcase "Thankful," Ringo Starr has scheduled two performances at the iconic Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee. These shows, set for January 14 and 15, 2025, will be filmed for a special, giving fans an opportunity to see Starr perform his new country-inspired material live.
This country music project marks a return to a genre Starr first explored in his solo career with the 1970 album "Beaucoup of Blues."
"Thankful" and the "Look Up" album represents Starr's continued musical evolution and his ability to collaborate with contemporary artists while honoring his love for country music.
