Kameron Marlowe Releases "How's the Leaving Going" Ahead of Album "Sad Songs for the Soul"
Kameron Marlowe, a rising star in the country music scene, has released his latest single, "How's the Leaving Going," on February 7, 2025. This emotionally charged track serves as a poignant preview of his upcoming album, "Sad Songs for the Soul," set to be released on February 21, 2025. The song, co-written by Marlowe alongside country legend Vince Gill and acclaimed songwriter Lee Thomas Miller, showcases Marlowe's ability to convey deep emotions through his music.
"How's the Leaving Going" is the fourth song released from "Sad Songs for the Soul," following "Hello Whiskey," "Here Lies the Fool," and a cover of "Burning House". The upcoming album, produced by Ben West, features 10 tracks that explore various aspects of heartbreak. Marlowe describes the project as "an unexpected, soulful, stripped project full of heartbreak at all stages in life".
Born in Kannapolis, North Carolina, Marlowe's journey in music began at a young age. He started singing in church at the age of 10 and later became a worship leader, which laid the foundation for his musical career. His grandfather's love for country radio during their hunting and fishing trips played a significant role in shaping Marlowe's musical tastes.
Marlowe's path to stardom wasn't straightforward. After dropping out of college to support his family when his mother faced health issues, he worked as an auto parts salesman for General Motors. His break came when a talent recruiter for NBC's "The Voice" discovered his performance videos on YouTube, leading to his appearance on the show's 15th season in 2018.
Following his stint on "The Voice," Marlowe moved to Nashville to pursue his dream of becoming a songwriter. In June 2019, he independently released his debut single, "Giving You Up," which amassed over 15 million on-demand streams and earned him a Gold certification from the RIAA. This success led to a songwriting deal with Sony/ATV Music Publishing in May 2020 and a recording contract with Sony Music Nashville's Columbia Nashville imprint in June 2020.
Marlowe's debut studio album, "We Were Cowboys," released in August 2022, peaked at number 22 on the US Country chart. His sophomore album, "Keepin' the Lights On," followed in May 2024, further establishing his presence in the country music scene.
In addition to his recording career, Marlowe is set to embark on tour in 2025. He will join Parker McCollum as a supporting act on the "What Kinda Man Tour 2025," starting January 23 in Athens, Georgia. Marlowe will also headline his own "Keepin' the Lights On Tour," beginning March 7 in Charles Town, West Virginia.
Marlowe's musical style blends traditional country storytelling with modern sensibilities, influenced by artists ranging from '90s country giants to rock bands like Stone Temple Pilots and Kings of Leon. His powerful, soulful voice and authentic songwriting have earned him recognition as one of country music's most promising new talents.
As Kameron Marlowe continues to evolve as an artist, "How's the Leaving Going" and the forthcoming "Sad Songs for the Soul" album promise to showcase a more vulnerable and emotionally resonant side of this rising country star.
