Justin Wells Releases Emotional New Single "Sad, Tomorrow"

Justin Wells, a Kentucky-based singer-songwriter known for his heartfelt narratives and soulful melodies, has released a new single titled "Sad, Tomorrow" on January 15, 2025. This release marks an exciting development in Wells' career, as it serves as the second single from his upcoming album "Cynthiana," set to be released on February 20, 2025.

Wells collaborated with his friend Adam Lee to complete the new song, which holds additional significance as it features one of the last performances by Lexington music icon Robby Cosenza before his passing.

The song "Sad, Tomorrow" carries a poignant backstory, inspired by a conversation between actress Nicole Kidman and her child following the death of Kidman's father. Wells recounts that the title came from the child's innocent question to their grieving mother: "Well, are you gonna be sad tomorrow?" This touching anecdote sparked Wells to explore themes of depression, helplessness, and the importance of being present for those struggling with mental health issues.

Justin Wells' musical journey began in the rural South, where he initially rebelled against the commercial country music that surrounded him, preferring the psychedelic sounds of Pink Floyd and the energy of Guns N' Roses. His career took off as the frontman of the Southern rock band Fifth on the Floor, which gained recognition with their 2013 album "Ashes & Angels," debuting on the Billboard Country charts.

Following the dissolution of Fifth on the Floor in 2015, Wells embarked on a solo career, releasing his debut album "Dawn in the Distance" in 2016. This transition period was challenging for Wells, who had to redefine his musical path and writing process. His sophomore album, "The United State," released in 2020, explored themes of shared human experiences and unity, transcending political and social divides.

Wells' upcoming album "Cynthiana" represents a deeply personal project, described by the artist as a "ten-song love letter" to his partner, whose birthday coincides with the album's release date. The album has already garnered attention, with Saving Country Music listing it as one of the most anticipated country albums of the year.

Throughout his career, Wells has been praised for his songwriting abilities, with Rolling Stone acknowledging his "gift for melody" and Saving Country Music commending his "stunning insight and honesty". His music blends elements of country, rock, and Americana, creating a sound that resonates with a wide audience.
