Jason Isbell Announces New Solo Acoustic Album "Foxes in the Snow" with Release of Single "Bury Me"

Jason Isbell, the acclaimed singer-songwriter, has announced his first entirely solo acoustic album, "Foxes in the Snow," set for release on March 7, 2025, via his own Southeastern Records label. The lead single from the upcoming album, "Bury Me," was released alongside the announcement.

The song showcases Isbell's masterful storytelling and introspective lyrics, with lines like "Bury me where the wind don't blow / Where the dust won't cover me / Where the tall grass grows". The track features Isbell's distinctive vocals accompanied by his acoustic guitar, creating an intimate and raw sound that harks back to his earlier work.

"Foxes in the Snow" was recorded over just five days in October 2024 at the legendary Electric Lady Studios in New York City. Isbell used an all-mahogany 1940 Martin 0-17 acoustic guitar to record all 11 tracks, emphasizing the stripped-down nature of the project. This approach allows Isbell's songwriting and vocal prowess to take center stage, highlighting the qualities that have made him one of the most respected artists in Americana and country music.

Isbell's musical journey began in his home state of Alabama, where he grew up surrounded by music and started performing in local bands at the age of 14. He joined Drive-By Truckers in 2001 at the age of 22, contributing to three of their albums before departing in 2007 to pursue a solo career. His breakthrough came with the release of "Southeastern" in 2013.

Throughout his career, Isbell has been praised for his ability to craft songs that are both deeply personal and universally relatable. He has won multiple Grammy Awards, including Best Americana Album for "Something More Than Free" (2015) and "The Nashville Sound" (2017). His most recent album with The 400 Unit, "Weathervanes," released in June 2023, continued his streak of critical acclaim, earning him two more Grammy nominations.
