Hannah McFarland Unveils "Whiskey Into Water" as Part of EP "Broken Hearts"
Hannah McFarland, a rising country music star from Alabama, has released her highly anticipated EP "Broken Hearts" on February 21, 2025, via The Core Records and Capitol Music Group. The EP features her new single "Whiskey Into Water," a poignant ballad that showcases McFarland's exceptional storytelling abilities.
"Whiskey Into Water" is a slow-burning track that delves into the complex emotions of watching a loved one struggle with addiction. The song's lyrics paint a vivid picture of helplessness and hope, with McFarland's aching vocals delivering lines like "He's got one more shot and I'm passing it to you / All this forgivin' him is gettin' harder / Jesus, could you try turnin' whiskey into water". The track's production, featuring cascading guitar lines, delicate piano work, and dreamlike pedal-steel tones, perfectly complements the song's emotional weight.
McFarland's musical journey began in her hometown of Mobile, Alabama, where she started performing at the age of 155. She quickly gained recognition for her talent, opening for major acts like Kelsea Ballerini, Old Dominion, and Travis Tritt while still in high school. In 2016, McFarland moved to Nashville to attend Lipscomb University and pursue her music career.
The "Broken Hearts" EP, primarily produced by Will Bundy (known for his work with Keith Urban and Kameron Marlowe), explores themes of heartbreak, faith, and new love. The project includes McFarland's major-label debut single "Hey Highway," released in fall 2024, which gained support on Sirius XM On The Horizon. Another standout track on the EP is "The Bed I Made," a soul-stirring ballad that led to McFarland signing a joint global publishing deal with Warner Chappell Music and The Core Entertainment.
McFarland's musical influences span across various genres and eras. She cites artists like Merle Haggard, Keith Whitley, Don Williams, and Alison Krauss as early inspirations. This diverse musical background is evident in her sound, which blends traditional country storytelling with contemporary production elements.
In October 2024, McFarland signed a joint venture deal with The Core Records and Capitol Music Group, marking a significant milestone in her career. She is currently working on her first full-length project, continuing to showcase her growth as an artist and songwriter.
As McFarland's star continues to rise, she remains committed to creating music that resonates deeply with listeners. "My whole vision for the EP was to put words to these difficult feelings that we all experience, so that other people can feel less alone," she explains. With her powerful vocals, heartfelt lyrics, and growing industry recognition, Hannah McFarland is undoubtedly an artist to watch in the country music scene.
