Charles Wesley Godwin Releases "It's The Little Things" as Lead Single From "Lonely Mountain Town"
Charles Wesley Godwin, a rising star in the country-folk scene, has released a new track titled "It's The Little Things" on February 7, 2025. This song serves as the lead single from his upcoming EP "Lonely Mountain Town," set to be released on February 28, 2025, via Big Loud Records.
"It's The Little Things" is a heartfelt ode to life's simple joys, such as the first sip of morning coffee, holding the door for someone, or exchanging a quick smile and wave. The song's melody and lyrics came to Godwin during a moment of inspiration in the shower, which he then refined into a three-minute and fifty-second composition. This latest release will feature on the new 7-track "Lonely Mountain Town," which the artist has described as a collection of “character songs” - "They’re...little pieces that I’ve taken from traveling,” Godwin explains. The EP will also feature collaborations with other artists, notable "Dead To Rights," featuring Ernest, and a cover of Jason Molina's "Hammer Down," featuring Scott Avett of The Avett Brothers.
Born in Morgantown, West Virginia, Godwin's musical journey began during his college years at West Virginia University, where he studied finance and first learned to play the guitar. His Appalachian roots have deeply influenced his musical style, which blends country, folk, and Americana genres.
Godwin's career has seen significant growth since the release of his 2023 album "Family Ties," which included the gold-certified single "All Again." He has made appearances on major television shows like Colbert, Kimmel, and CBS Saturday Sessions, and has performed at festivals such as Bonnaroo and Stagecoach.
Throughout 2024, Godwin's prolific songwriting continued, with the artist estimating he wrote nearly 30 songs that year. This creative burst led to the conception of "Lonely Mountain Town," which promises to be a more introspective and quieter affair compared to his previous work.
Godwin's musical influences include artists such as Kris Kristofferson, Willie Nelson, John Prine, and Ryan Bingham. His storytelling ability and authentic approach to songwriting have earned him critical acclaim and a growing fanbase.
As Godwin embarks on his winter and spring tour with his band, the Allegheny High, he remains committed to his artistic vision. He expresses a desire to continue writing, recording, and producing music in a way that stays true to his creative instincts.
